Kennedy Asante Osei, the founder of the East Legon Young Executive Men’s Fitness Club, is not only a lawyer by profession but also an astute Ghanaian businessman. He serves as the General Manager of the Despite Group of Companies, a vast conglomerate with diverse investments spanning Media, Manufacturing, Real Estate, and other sectors. Additionally, he is a devoted husband and father to twin daughters.
Ken has played a pivotal role in steering the family business to success across multiple sectors. In 2012, he joined the Real Estate Division, spearheading construction and property rental in various areas of Ghana including East Legon, Airport Residential Area, Cantonments, and Ridge in Accra, as well as Kumasi. In 2014, he expanded his role to include the Food and Beverage Division, overseeing operations at Neat Foods Ltd and Atona Foods, renowned for products such as Neat fufu, Neat Palmnut Extract, and This Way chocolate drink.
In September 2015, Ken joined Despite Media, the conglomerate's media arm, which includes Peace FM, Okay FM, Hello FM, Neat FM, Peacefmonline, and United Television (UTV). His tenure in the Media Division brought him significant public attention, culminating in him winning the Leadership in Family Business award at the 40 under 40 awards in 2019. He has also served on the Board of Directors of Best Point Savings and Loans since 2019. Beyond the family business, Ken co-founded Kency, a bespoke fashion brand, with his wife in 2020, and in 2022 initiated Perfectmann, a rapidly growing Ready-to-Wear clothing brand for Men.
Ken's commitment to academic excellence is evident in his educational journey. He completed his basic education at the Rev John Teye Memorial Institute and pursued his secondary education at Adisadel College, where he served as an Entertainment Prefect, showcasing his emerging leadership skills. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BSc.) from the University of Ghana and furthered his studies at the University of Birmingham in 2014, specializing in Money, Banking, and Finance (MSc). Upon returning to Ghana, he pursued a rigorous law program (LLB) at Mountcrest University College, followed by his Professional Law Course (PLC) at the Ghana School of Law. In 2022, Ken was admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Ghana, demonstrating his dedication to the legal profession. He obtained a Master's degree in Corporate and Commercial Law in January 2024, further enriching his expertise in the field. Ken also practices law as a legal practitioner with the S & H Group.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Ken is deeply committed to philanthropy. He has made significant contributions to John Teye Memorial School, including the construction of a state-of-the-art library inaugurated in 2018. His philanthropic efforts extend to supporting the less fortunate by covering academic fees, hospital bills, and providing various forms of assistance, exemplifying his generosity and commitment to giving back to society.
